Wat is CE4RT?

Het CE4RT project is een transnationaal samenwerkingsproject dat een netwerk van toeristische mkb’s ondersteunt in vijf Europese partnerhubs op het gebied van duurzaamheid, circulaire economie en regeneratief toerisme. Dit project richt zich op toeristische mkb’s en biedt ze instrumenten om een circulaire langetermijnstrategie in hun regio te implementeren en om bij te dragen aan de blijvende veerkracht, levensvatbaarheid en concurrentiekracht van de industrie. Er zullen 80 mkb-bedrijven uit het netwerk worden gekozen om deel te nemen aan dit project. Hen wordt kennis en training geboden op basis van de specifieke behoeften en hoever men al gevorderd is op de eigen duurzame reis.

Hiervoor ontwikkelden we een reeks activiteiten, zoals trainingsseminars, mentorschap, coaching, gemeenschapsevenementen en kennismakingsreizen. Er zal bovendien een kennisbank worden opgericht en verspreid worden op verschillende platforms, niet alleen voor de deelnemende kleine en middelgrote ondernemingen binnen de toerismesector. Deze kennisbank zal ook beschikbaar worden gesteld aan alle toerismebeoefenaars in heel Europa en aan instellingen voor hoger onderwijs. Er zal een innovatieve methode worden gebruikt waarbij het concept van ‘Leaders and Learners’ wordt gebruikt waarbij 2 mkb-deelnemers uit elk deelnemend vakgebied worden gekozen om op te treden als leiders binnen de gemeenschap voor het faciliteren en implementeren van circulaire toerismepraktijken.

Belanghebbenden uit het vakgebied toerisme uit heel Europa zullen worden uitgenodigd om een virtuele conferentie bij te wonen van waaruit de resultaten van dit project kunnen worden gedeeld. Het CE4RT project stemt af op en draagt bij aan een aantal duurzame ontwikkelingsdoelstellingen (SDG’s) en doelstellingen van een reeks beleidsinitiatieven van de EU en de VN waaronder de Europese Green Deal; EU Covid 19-herstelkader; EG-actieplan voor een circulaire economie; UNWTO ALULA-kader; UNWTO-overgang naar een groene reis- en toerisme-economie.

Wat zijn de doelen van CE4RT?

Een peer-to-peer gerichte aanpak en kennisoverdracht ontwikkelen tussen toeristische mkb-bedrijven, consortiumpartners en het bredere Europese toerisme-ecosysteem met betrekking tot de circulaire economie en circulaire bedrijfsvoering.
Trainingen ontwikkelen voor toeristische mkb-bedrijven ten behoeve van het behalen van duurzaamheidscertificering en de meest haalbare en geschikte programma’s voor elke sector vinden.
Om toeristische mkb’s te ondersteunen bij het toepassen van innovatieve, circulaire toerismepraktijken die een door de gemeenschap geleide, holistische benadering omvatten. Dit richt zich niet alleen op de welvaart van de reisbestemming, maar ook op de mensen en de planeet zoals omschreven door de UNWTO (2021) en de doelstellingen van verschillende SDG’s.
De principes van de circulaire economie op korte termijn en circulair toerisme op de lange termijn integreren in de bedrijfsontwikkeling en waardeketen van het mkb in het toerisme.
Om toeristische mkb’s in staat te stellen hun toeristisch aanbod te promoten met behoud van het ethos, de cultuur en het erfgoed van de bestemming.
Een innovatieve aanpak creëren voor het monitoren van de impact (sociaal, ecologisch en economisch) van regeneratieve toerismepraktijken op toeristische bestemmingen.
Om de rol van de bezoeker als ambassadeur voor circulair toerisme op een bestemming te waarborgen. Dit kan door middel van de instandhoudingsacties van het mkb zelf maar ook doordat positieve ervaringen van de gasten leiden tot positieve mond-tot-mondreclame en herhaalde bezoeken.

Structuur van de projectorganisatie

Het CE4RT project wordt gefinancierd door het programma SMP-COSME-2021-TOURISME (COVID-19 Recovery Through Sustainable Tourism Growth and SME Support). De projectactiviteiten zijn verdeeld in 6 werkpakketten (WP’s), elk met een vastgestelde reikwijdte en doelstelling.

What is CE4RT?

The CE4RT project is a trans-national collaborative project supporting a network of tourism SMEs across five partner European hubs in the areas of Sustainable Practice, the Circular Economy and Regenerative Tourism. The focus of this project is to provide tourism SMEs with the tools to implement regenerative practices as a long-term strategy within their region and to contribute to the continued resilience, viability and competitiveness of the industry. 80 SMEs from across the network will be chosen to participate in this project and will be provided with a suite of knowledge and training based on the specific needs and the readiness stage in the sustainable journey.

This will be achieved through a range of activities such as training seminars, mentoring, coaching, community events and familiarisation trips. A repository of knowledge will be created and disseminated on various platforms, not just to the participating tourism SMEs, but will be made available for all tourism practitioners throughout Europe as well as higher educational institutions. An innovative methodology will be employed involving the concept of ‘Leaders and Learners’ with 2 SME participants chosen from each participating jurisdiction to act as leaders within the community for the facilitation and implementation of regenerative tourism practice.

Tourism stakeholders from across Europe will be invited to attend a virtual conference from which the outputs of this project can be shared. The CE4RT project aligns and contributes to a number of SDGs and objectives of a range of EU and UN policy initiatives including the European Green Deal; EU Covid 19 Recovery Framework; EC Circular Economy Action Plan; UNWTO ALULA framework; UNWTO transition to a Green Travel and Tourism Economy.

What are the objectives of CE4RT?

To develop a peer to peer focused approach and knowledge transfer among tourism SMEs, consortium partners and the wider European tourism ecosystem in relation to the circular economy and regenerative tourism practices.
To develop training for tourism SMEs in achieving sustainability certification. Identifying the most feasible and appropriate programmes for each sector.
To support tourism SME’s in the adoption of innovative regenerative tourism practices that involves a community led, holistic approach. This focuses not only on the prosperity of the destination but also the people and the planet as identified by the UNWTO (2021) and the objectives of several SDG’s.
To incorporate the principles of the circular economy in the short term and regenerative tourism in the long-term into tourism SME business development and value chain.
To enable tourism SME’s to communicate their tourism offering while maintaining the ethos, culture and heritage of their destination.
To create an innovative approach for monitoring the impact (social, environmental and economic) of regenerative tourism practices in tourism destinations.
To ensure the role of the visitor as an ambassador for regenerative tourism in a destination through their own conservation actions and how this experience can result in positive word of mouth and repeat visits.
